Vacation!

I'll be offline till the end of the week, visiting family, but never fear, we'll have some brand new Arnold and Buddy adventures for you when I get back.

Stay cool!

If you see Josh, no matter what his condition, give him a kiss from me.

Have a great vacation, Dan! Hope you brought some Proust with you.

Have fun!

And I was thinking similar thoughts to Kathleen's... maybe you'll run into Josh.

Ha ha, I'm sitting on the front step of my mom's cottage just barely stealing a free internets signal. Am I addicted or what?

Anyways, thanks for the nice thoughts, guys. Haven't seen Josh yet, but I'm hoping!

BG, I didn't bring Proust, but I did bring this great new translation of War and Peace which I've been reading off and on for about a year now. I think I read one (1) paragraph yesterday.

Marcus, fortunately I haven't been near the beach, so I've been safe from the horeshoes. On the other hand last night I got bit by mosquitoes sitting out here on the front steps at my mom's stealing someone's wireless internet.

Having decided at the last minute to go ahead this time and bring my laptop, I've been on it almost as much as back home, and I have been (slightly) editing and reformatting Arnold's past adventures, as well as working a bit on the transcription of his next one. What fun. Might even have a new episode ready by Saturday morning!

The keys to Happiness in Cape May:

Play skeeball till your arm falls off. Walk on the beach till you're bloody with cuts from clamshells. Go to Morrows nut-house and eat chocolate covered cashews till you puke.

Is that pier still there? The one in the postcard.

Marcus, I haven't even made it down to Cape May proper. I'm a bit up the road apiece in Cape May Court House, but, yeah, as far as I know "Frank's Playland" -- the yellow, green-roofed structure to the left of the picture is still there, as is the pier we see on the right hand side. However, I hear that "Convention Hall", which was on that same pier but out of frame (and where Arnold danced the frug with the living doll Clarissa) -- has been demolished over the past year, and I'm not quite sure if a new, improved one has been put up yet. I hope so...(stealing internet on my mother's front lawn again -- ha!)

the last time we played skeeball in Cape May 5 years ago, my daughter bought a hot dog at the arcade window and as she stepped back only 2 or 3 feet from the front of the building on the boardwalk (asphalt) and raised the dog to take a first bite, a well-rehearsed seagull quickly swooped and snatched the dog right out of the bun and soared away--it was amazing

Pirate gulls!

and the pets of the stand owner!

The hot dog stand guy probably trains those gulls to steal the wienies!
