Steve was great. No one wrote like Steve Gilliard, and Steve wrote like no one else. I'll miss this guy.
Steve Gilliard, I raise a glass to you.
Home is the sailor, home from sea, And the hunter home from the hill.

Steve was an amazing guy. One of the most prolific and tireless commentators out there with a voice that rang true.
He was like a 9mm auto with an 18 round clip, simultaneously posting numerous stories a day--with funny pictures--answering many commentors and keeping annoying trolls at bay with a quick spray of words.
He was not only quick but very knowledgeable, especially about military tactics and history. You can get an idea of his talents with a look at his old bog site: http://stevegilliard.blogspot.com/ (his new site is closed down for now) A real loss to the country and humanity.
